Jean McGuire

Jean McGuire is a community activist in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1966 she helped found Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity (METCO), becoming the Executive Director of METCO in 1973 and holding this role until 2016. Additionally, Jean was the first African American woman to be elected to the Boston School Committee in 1981, being re-elected on the board until 1991, when the elected committee was disbanded and replaced with a mayoral-appointed board.
