Black Lives Matter

If you don’t think it is important to shout from the rooftops that Black Lives Matter again and again and again, then you don’t understand the power dynamics that exist. Saying Black Lives Matter doesn’t mean that other lives don’t, it is saying that if we have unconscious biases against black people, biases that have been perpetuated from years of media and societal noise, that we try and forge new biases so that when the chips are down and we (or police) are in a stressful situation we revert to “Black Lives Matter” not to our unconscious biases which are more than likely racist.

By claiming that we are “color blind” in regular conversation, we are failing to examine our own unconscious racial biases, and failing to celebrate our differences.

Black Lives Matter.
